Playing with Pita Bread
Pita Bread is one of the most versatile breads around. It is great for people who don’t like thick bread on sandwiches or thick crust on their pizza…in these days of the low carb diet, PITA RULES!

Pita Garbage Bread:

Slice the pita bread on the edge and separate it into two sides. Brush it lightly on both sides with extra virgin olive oil. Put some garlic powder or granulated garlic on the inside half, which you should face up. (TIP: I always have garlic infused extra virgin olive oil on hand…which is made simply by heating the oil slowly on low with cloves of garlic in it…this is great for this purpose). Spread some pizza or spaghetti sauce over the bread, then layer some sausage, salami, ham…what ever you would like, and your favorite Italian cheese. Roll it up and place it in a covered sauté pan or skillet, turning until browned on all sides. (You can place it in a 400 degree oven for 6-8 minutes/until lightly brown if you would prefer). (TIP: make it vegetarian bread by using roasted peppers, mushrooms, olives…what ever sounds good!)
